Guhring is today one of the world's leading suppliers of rotary cutting tools. The current product range includes more than 1,370 different tool types and in excess of 43,000 different products.

The reason of our success are our 3,500 employees - 2,400 alone in Germany -, who daily provide the company with their know-how and creativity in order to develop, produce and distribute products that are innovative as well as market satisfactory.

With the re-structure of the company into four divisions, i.e. tooling, service, carbide as well as machine and equipment divisions, we are organisationally on the right track for a successful future.

Research and development greatly influence the quality of products and their market success. Our R&D in Sigmaringen-Laiz, where concepts are developed, is constantly optimising cutting edge geometries and tool materials for different machining operations. In 1980, the successfully mass produced TiN-coating was a mile stone in the development of cutting technology. Many imitators have tried to participate in its success.

However, we did not rest on our laurels. Our F-coat FIRE continues to be red hot news. It offers an enormous performance potential. At Guhring, you currently have a choice of five hard material coatings and one soft coating, i.e. TiN, TiAlN, TiCN, Fire and Diamond and the glide-coating MolyGlide. In 1990, we introduced the Ratio drill, a new generation of carbide tools for high performance machines. The necessary carbide grades were developed and optimised by our R&D in cooperation with specialists from our carbide factories. This, the possibility to optimise tool materials and cutting edge geometries on site, plus the creativity of our work force, we regard as the yeast for successful innovations. Currently we are developing tools for dry and high speed machining - two current, actively discussed trends in the cutting tool world. At the same time we are heavily involved in EC research projects.
We are constantly running tests in close operation with our costumers. The application conditions later required are hereby precisely pre-determined. Consequently, we have a controlled cycle, of equal advantage to enduser and manufacturer. Our motto: We accompany our products for life, design, during development, initial application through to re-grinding and re-coating. We can even provide a complete 'Tool Management' on request.

Quality is not about winning awards.
Nevertheless, we have done extremely well in this department. The Q-101 award from Ford or the quality certificates from General Motors, Caterpillar, British Aerospace and INA bring enthusiasm and are recognition of all employees involved. Since December 1993, we have been granted the international DIN EN ISO 9001 certificate by DQS.
