1898 The company is founded by Gottlieb Gühring.
1900 The first factory is built at the current headquarters in Albstadt-Ebingen
1921

Oskar Gühring, son of the company founder who died in 1913, takes over the running of the company.

1940

The company has approximately 680 employees and produces 50 types of twist drills.

1948

 

Following a complete distruction of the production plant, the rebuilding begins with Oskar Gühring at the helm.

 

 
1955

 

120 employees produce a range of 50 types of twist drills again.

 

 
1964

Dr. Jörg Gühring joins the company. Following the death of Oskar Gühring in 1985, he takes over the running of the company.

1965 The production of high speed steel drills begins in Berlin.
1973

The company opens its first subsidiary in England. This year also sees the production of the first carbide-tipped drills.

1978

 

Takes the first step overseas with the founding of a distribution company in the USA.

 

 
1980 Guhring's first TiN-coated twist drill is a milestone in machining technology. By now the company has approximately 1300 employees, the product range includes in excess of 160 types.
1982

The first foreign Guhring factory begins with the production of tools in Brookfield/ Wisconsin (USA).

1983

The largest Guhring factory begins production in Sigmaringen-Laiz. In addition, the range of thread cutting, reaming, countersinking and gun drills is extended.

1985

With the take-over of Diacut, Guhring takes on board the development and production of PCD-tipped tools.

1987

 

Guhring enters the competitive Japanese market and begins production in Nagoya.

 

1988

The company starts their own carbide development and production.

1992 The production of Guhring tools begins in South Korea.
1996

Production begins at the Guhring factory in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia.

1997
Guhring founded a subsidiary in Poland
1998

100 years Guhring

New production plant in India, Bangalore

1999

The subsidiaries of Italy, France and Sweden were established.

 

 

 

 
2002

The new and latest Guhring Catalogue with more than 1150 pages was released.

2003

With the launch of the Guhring Exclusive Line in Milan, Guhring launched for the first time in the world micro drills with elliptical coolant holes.

 

For its exemplary performance as supplier Guhring was awarded the best tool manufacturer award in the category “Company Performance” by the Volkswagen Group.

2004

Opening of the new plant in Albstadt-Ebingen, specially for PCD tools.

  Guhring India is shifting its location into a new plant, in order to extend the capacity.
